Department of Surgery
Division of Plastic Surgery
The Division of Plastic Surgery offers a complete range of plastic and reconstructive surgery services for both adults and children. Our surgeons are nationally and internationally renowned for their surgical and research contributions to plastic surgery.
In addition to providing patient care, each surgeon is involved in clinical research, as well as the teaching of all types of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. These scholarly activities allow us to achieve our goal of providing the highest quality service by using the most advanced techniques and skill for optimal medical care.
Current programs
The Breast Reconstruction and Plastic Surgery Program offers comprehensive services for breast reconstruction after surgery for breast cancer. A full spectrum of reconstructive procedures is available, including tissue expansion and implantation, including microsurgical autologous tissue reconstruction (DIEPS, PAPS, TUGS, SGAPS, ICAPS). Counseling and support services are individually tailored to meet the patient's needs.
The program also provides reconstruction for congenital and developmental anomalies, as well as surgery for cosmetic breast contouring. The most current techniques are employed for breast augmentation.
The Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Program provides comprehensive evaluations of congenital facial anomalies, including cleft lip, cleft palate, Pierre-Robin syndrome, craniosynostosis, microtia, retrognathia, Treacher Collins and Crouzon's syndrome patients. The plastic surgeons and neurosurgeons use the most up-to-date surgical techniques to treat these birth deformities and also coordinate the myriad of support services these children require. Adult patients with residual facial or skull deformities after cancer surgery or post-traumatic injury are also treated by the team.
