The center of Metabolic Health and Weight Management at Rutgers is a multi-disciplinary center that brings together experts in both non-procedural and procedural methods of weight management.
Obesity is a common, serious, and costly chronic disease that affecting 2 in every 5 adults in the United States according to the CDC.
Obesity can lead to many serious medication conditions including, but not limited to:
- Diabetes mellitus
- Heart Disease
- Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia
- Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Osteoarthritis
- Cancer
We aim to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, personalized care to enable you to achieve weight control and improve the above-listed medical conditions.
- Our dedicated team of experts will do a comprehensive review of your health and create an individualized plan.
- Our team consists, which consists of physicians, surgeons, dietitians, endoscopists and exercise trainers will provide long-term assistance to ensure success. You will have the opportunity to consult with multiple specialists on the same day.

Approach
- Dietary counseling: We emphasize the integration of a registered dietitian (RD) into our outpatient weight loss practice who will provide personalized dietary counseling.
- Exercise counseling: Exercise is vital not only for promoting weight loss and maintenance but also for preventing the loss of muscle mass during your weight loss journey.
- Anti-obesity medication therapy: We offer medication therapy in combination with lifestyle changes for individuals who meet the criteria.
If indicated, we can present procedural weight loss options and refer you to our collaborative bariatric surgery team. Our counseling and pharmacotherapy services can be utilized before or after procedural interventions to support your weight loss goals and ensure a successful journey.
By addressing obesity holistically and tailoring treatment plans to individual needs, our Center for Metabolic Health and Weight Management aims to help you achieve meaningful and long-lasting weight loss while mitigating the risk and cost of associated diseases.
