About the department
The department is centrally situated in New Brunswick and is conveniently located. The main practice is located in the Clinical Academic Building adjacent to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, with an additional office in Monroe. The department has a fully accredited residency program, as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship programs.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a Regional Perinatal Center, the main site of clinical practice for the division of maternal-fetal medicine (MFM), and serves as a major referral center for high-risk obstetrics in central New Jersey. Also located at RWJUH and supported by the division of MFM is a genetics center incorporating prepregnancy, antepartum and intrapartum evaluation and counseling.
The department also has active general obstetrics and gynecology, and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery divisions that provide care to the community through their various programs, including robotic surgery, urogynecology, pelvic reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive surgery, Uterine Artery Embolization Program for fibroids, adolescent gynecology, and women's health research.
The department cooperates with the divisions of colo-rectal surgery and urology and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in offering a pelvic floor and incontinence program. The department also collaborates with the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health in caring for both obstetrical patients and their babies and for gynecologic patients by joint participation at each practice's clinical site. The department also oversees the gynecologic program of the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Health Program.
